One coin or a complete U.S. collection

U.S. collections can include early copper, silver dollars, commemoratives, proof sets, mint sets and modern certified issues. A collection does not have to be complete to be worth reviewing. Bring the original organization with it: the sequence of dates and mintmarks in a folder can help show what the collector assembled.

Identify the issue before choosing a comparison

A date alone is rarely enough. Denomination, mintmark, variety, finish and condition can change which market comparisons apply. Proof and circulation coins are different products, even when their dates match. A certified grade should be read together with any holder notes; a numerical grade on a different issue is not a direct value comparison.

Silver value and collector value are different

Some U.S. coins are bought primarily for precious-metal content, while others have collectible premiums. Do not assume that every silver-colored coin contains silver or that every old coin is rare. We identify the issue and consider condition and demand before deciding whether an individual or grouped evaluation makes sense.

    Keep sets and holders together

Leave proof sets in their lenses and preserve boxes and certificates when available. Do not break certified coins out of their holders before a review. Coins that look hazy or toned should not be polished at home. A brighter appearance is not necessarily an improvement to a collectible surface.

    How we build an offer

We look at the material present, its condition, authenticity and the market for those specific issues. Common sets and better individual coins may need different approaches. You can ask us to identify the pieces driving the offer and explain whether packaging or a particular date is important.

    Preparing your visit

Photograph key dates, silver dollars, certified labels and the fronts of set boxes. Tell us approximately how many items you have. Call 945-268-7193 before bringing your U.S. coin collection to our Richardson store, especially if it fills several boxes.
